BASIC ASSESSMENT FOR ZEERUST PRISON FACILITY

The National Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) intends to establish or develop the correctional service facility at Zeerust. The proposed site for the correctional service facility is at the remainder of portion 41 of Hazia 240 JP. The site is situated in Zeerust Town within the Jurisdiction of the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality (RMLM), North-West Province. The proposed activity entails the clearance of indigenous vegetation for a total area of 5 hectares. The prison facility will be comprised of the following:
• Central visitors facility
• Preprocessing unit
• Admin office
• Medical services
• Food services
• Training/ educational facility
• Segregation unit
• Building maintenance workshop
• Logistic store
• Cook section
• Inmates housing block (480 beds)
