DRDAR AKFT Layer facility

Habitat Link Consulting (Pty) Ltd has been appointed by the Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform (DRDAR) on behalf of Mr Anele Nkinti, to apply for an Integrated Environmental Authorisation (EA), Waste Management Licence (WML) and Water Use License Authorization (WULA) for the abovementioned project. Notice is hereby given in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) (Act No. 107 of 1998, as amended) of the proposed poultry layer facility. The development of the facility is proposed to take place on the Remaining Extent of Portion 1 of Farm No. 51, located within the Ndlambe Local Municipality of the Sarah Baartman District Municipality in Eastern Cape province (Figure 1). approximately 88 hectares (ha), but the proposed development is will only consist of approximately 1.5 ha and can be accessed via the R67, Port Alfred Road and a gravel road leading to the farm. The Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform (DRDAR) has approved the implementation of the AKFT poultry layer facility. The farmer is currently undertaking small-scale poultry farming with informal infrastructure. It is thus the intention of the DRDAR to assist the farmer with the formalisation of the poultry farm establishing a facility that can accommodate 5 000-layer hens and other associated infrastructure.
