Eco Elementum (hereafter EcoE) was appointed to undertake a Section 102 application and Water Use Licence Application for Mnambithi (hereafter the “Mnambithi”). The proposed project area is located on portion 4, a portion of portion 2, Portion 5, and a portion of portion 7 of the farm Straffontein 252 IR, Nkangala District Municipality, Mpumalanga province of South Africa.
Application for Environmental Authorisation submitted in support of the application for a Section 102 Mining Right Amendment for the Mining of Coal.
Mnambithi Mining (Pty) Ltd (hereinafter “Mnambithi”) is the holder of a Mining Permit (MP) (Ref: MP 30/5/1/3/2/11807 MP) and Mining Right (MP 30/5/1/2/3/2/1/10320 EM) on Portion 4 of the farm Straffontein 252 IR. They intend on extending their Life of Mine (LOM) through a Corporate Agreement with Anglo American Inyosi Coal to mine a Portion of Portion 2, Portion 5 and a Portion of Portion 7 of the farm Straffontein 252 IR for Anglo American Inyosi Coal on a Royalty Agreement.
The current coal mining operation, Straffontein Colliery, is located on Portion 4/1 of Straffontein 252 IR and is situated 20km East of Delmas, 11 km Southwest of Kendal, within the Victor Khanye Local Municipality, Nkangala District, Mpumalanga.
