Proposed Construction of the Vulindlela Bulk Water Pipeline from Mid Ridge Reservoir to Mpophomeni Lower-Level Reservoir within uMngeni Local and uMgungundlovu District municipality, KwaZulu Natal

The construction of the pipeline from the Mid Ridge Reservoir to the Mpophomeni Lower-Level Reservoir will be incorporated into Phase 2 of the VWSS. However, the scope of work to construct the pipeline from MRR to MPOLLR was not included in the initial environmental authorization application for Phase 2. The current water supply at MPOLLR is insufficient to meet the demands of the surrounding communities. Therefore, this pipeline project represents a vital step toward enhancing water availability and ensuring sustainable resource management in the region.
