Depicts Table Mountain from Newlands, with a house on the left among trees and a wagon on the right. [Table Mountain and Devil's Peak from Newlands (Cape Town lies at the back of the mountain)]; Brown paper label that was stuck on the back of the work (discarded when work was removed from frame): Newlands - Cape of Good Hope - of the "Narcissus" frigate - circa 1850.

Provenance

Ashbey's AO7382 Sale 2 May 1958 in pencil top right on backing paper - discarded when work was removed from frame.
