Street scene of the Heerengracht with soldiers marching in the foreground. On the left is the Commercial Exchange, with a market in progress outside. To left and right are the towers of the Dutch Reformed Church and the old St. George's Church. To the right front is the shop of A. Miller the Tailor, on the corner of Strand Street; his wall bears a large numeral 13, which he always featured in his advertisements.
