Geelhout Housing

Habitat Link Consulting (Pty) Ltd has been appointed by Urban Dynamics Eastern Cape Inc., on behalf of the Kouga Local Municipality, to apply for an Environmental Authorisation (EA) for the proposed housing development and associated infrastructure forming part of a township establishment over Portion 19 of the Farm Geelhouteboom 688, located near KwaNomzamo, Humansdorp, within the Kouga Local Municipality, Eastern Cape Province. The extent of the property is approximately 58 hectares (ha) and it is expected that the development will have a footprint exceeding 20 ha. The project area will undergo the clearance of vegetation and development of the proposed township and associated infrastructure (including water and sanitation, roads and stormwater and electricity). The subject property is currently vacant and it is the intention of the Kouga Local Municipality to establish an integrated township comprising of some 1 250 stands with a minimum erf size 200 m². The proposed site will also be for relocation of over 500 beneficiaries from an unsuitable area currently utilised near the Humansdorp wastewater treatment works. The site is currently zoned for agriculture and will be rezoned as per a new layout to be developed in consultation with the environmental process.
