    Cactus plant with many button-like protuberances from which protrude long thorns, from the centre of the stem sprout many red flowers. (Part of a collection, see 34340)Une des plus belles Plantes de L'Afrique haute de taille et entierement couverte de gros Boutons, d'ou sortent de tres longues Epines tres piquantes: sur le haut du Tronc naissent dans son centre un Paquet de Fleurs d'un rouge Carmin, et des Feuilles dechiquetees. C'est un Genre Nouveau.; One of the most beautiful plants of Africa, tall and entirely covered with large button-like protuberances from which protrude very long, very sharp thornsfrom the centre of the upper part of the stem [trunk] there issues [grows] a bunch of flowers, carmine in colour, and with jagged leaves.
