The Parliament Collection:
Painted in 1898 from original by Craey in the Staatsmuseum in Amsterdam. It is the well-known portrait of supposedly Jan (Johan) van Riebeeck. Head and shoulders in oval painted frame within the rectangle of the board. No inscription on work. Metal label in English "Johan van Riebeeck, founder of the colony of the Cape of Good Hope, 1652-1662, Born 1618. Died 1677. This portrait was painted from the original one in the Staatsmuseum in Amsterdam in 1898 by the artist Mr Jan Veth."
