Lategan Stone Masons.Lategan Monumental started up in Kimberley by the Lategan family in 1948. From humble beginnings of Oupa Lategan who started in his garage creating beautiful tombstones for families who wanted their loved one to be remembered and honored. Oupa Lategan trained his son Theodore Lategan in the old ways of stone masonry. Together they built the business into a successful family business that still operates today. A walk through Kimberley will have their work standing the test of time, from family graveyards on farms to the Kimberley Airports memorial plaque done for the unveiling of their solar farm. In 2015 their eldest son Jean returned from Scotland after 15 years, to walk in his fathers footsteps. Once again he started as an apprentice in the working of stone.But instead of buying his fathers business, he decided to spread his wings and in 2017 opened Lategan Stone Masons in George.Jean has the skills from his father and impeccable customer service standards, after working in hospitality for many years. Specializing in all natural stone and quartz masonry creating custom granite work from kitchen tops to gravestone and monuments.
