Case Decision - 373728

Interim Comment:

The SAHRA Development Applications Unit (DAU) is making the following comments in terms of section 38(8) of the National Heritage Resources Act as contemplated by the EIA process in terms of section 24(4)b(ii) of NEMA:

• The SAHRA DAU noted the specialist reports submitted to support the application for comment.
• The applicant is required to report on all remaining heritage resources and provide proposal for mitigation based on the current status quo and the EMPr that supports the current proposal.
• The SAHRA DAU requests a close-out report for the mitigation measures already undertaken for the approved Kusile ADF development (https://www.sahris.org.za/node/139723) separate from the HIA report and only deal with the existing heritage resources requiring mitigation on-site. 
• Lastly, the applicant is advised to kindly confirm the heritage resources identified during desktop survey and provide grading for all under the revised HIA required for further commenting.
