Case Decision - 378763

The application was considered by the Provincial Heritage Authority, the KwaZulu Natal Amafa and Research Institute on 16 April 2025. The documents submitted in support of the application were reviewed. 

Amongst other things the following was discussed:  

• The committee noted that this development did not trigger s41(1) but was rather submitted for commenting on a s41(8). 
• The proposed powerline would follow the boundary of a formal cemetery which triggered the HIA that had been submitted. 
• The HIA recommended that the pylons be relocated to the other side of the road as the current route is close to the cemetery. 
• No other sensitive resources were identified. 
• The committee noted that the public participation report was not submitted but it was noted that the PPP would be done with the EMPR. 

The application was therefore referred for further requirements.

FURTHER REQUIREMENTS 

• Proof of the public consultation process was required.
