RESPONSE LETTER

The permit application in respect of the above, received and reviewed on 30 April 2025 by the KwaZulu-Natal Amafa and Research Institute (The Institute) refers.

Please be advised as follows:

The committee noted that the age of the graves to be impacted by the proposed development had been confirmed to be under 60 years of age as per the Traditional Authority letter submitted.
The committee therefore wishes to advise the applicant that a Section 39 permit is not applicable and will not be required as the graves have been confirmed to be under 60 years of age.

THE ISSUING OF THIS LETTER DOES NOT EXEMPT THE APPLICANT FROM COMPLIANCE WITH ANY OTHER LAW, WHERE APPLICABLE.
