RETHABISENG - CULLINAN PV 132kV OHL & Switching Station

This Basic Assessment provides information about the proposed overhead power line between Rethabiseng Substation and Cullinan PV Switching Station; and the proposed Cullinan PV Switching Station. In addition, it will investigate an access road to the authorised Cullinan PV Facility. Its scope is restricted to these mentioned project components.

The environmental application is for the evacuation of the bulk electricity from the Solar PV Plant. The Switching Station and the 132kV overhead line will be the focus of this application.

The high-level scope is as follows:

At Rethabiseng Substation:
 Extension of Rethabiseng Substation
 Establish and equip 1 x 132 kV feeder bay

At the Cullinan PV Switching Station:
 Construct a 132 kV 3-way Cullinan PV Switching Station close to the solar site

132kV Line:
 Construct a ±10 km 132 kV line, (Tern Conductor), between Rethabiseng Substation and the Cullinan PV Switching Station

Access Road
 Clear a 16m wide access road to the Cullinan PV Switching Station and PV plant. (From Cullinan Road 513 entering into the DPW western border, the first 100m of the access road must be 25m wide)

Laydown Area
 Clear a site of 1.1 hectares to be used during construction

Site office
 Clear a site of 1.1 hectares to be used as site office
