APPLICATION FOR RECTIFICATION: UPGRADE OF THE WATERBORNE SANITATION SYSTEM IN PHIRITONA, HEILBRON, FREE STATE

The proposed sewer network upgrade and new installations will service ward 5, extensions 5, 6 and 8 and a portion of extension 4 of the residential area of Phiritona which is situated to the north of Heilbron. The sewer network will service an area with an approximate extent of 25 hectares and will drain along the natural slope toward the southwest. At the southwestern end of the network, it will connect to an existing pump station, which feeds into the Wastewater Treatment Works located 500 metres to the southwest.

The project includes the construction of trunking main uPVC pipeline class 34 of 1022m x 250mm in diameter and 720m x 200mm in diameter pipes, sewer reticulation uPVC pipeline class 34 of approximately 190m x 250mm in diameter, 2030m x 200mm in diameter, and 6470m x 160mm in diameter pipes, all placed within road reserve, erection of 1173 basic toilet structures, the construction of approximately 360 manholes and temporal removal and reinstating of approximately 4.3km of fence during construction, due to its closeness to the pipeline route. The outfall pipeline starts from Phiritona Township and gravitates to the existing pump station located near Heilbron Wastewater Treatment Works
