The permit application in respect of the above, received on and reviewed by the KwaZulu-Natal Amafa and Research Institute (The Institute) on 4 June 2025 and 2 July 2025 refers.
Please be advised as follows:
- A site inspection was carried out and the grading was confirmed Grade IIIC due to its design, intactness of form and contribution to the streetscape.
- The committee is not in support of the proposed demolition. However, should the applicant wish that the committee reconsider the application, an engineer’s report on the existing structure, and a proposal for the site development plan that takes the streetscape into account must be submitted.
Further requirements:
- It is required that a condition assessment or engineer’s report; and a proposal for the replacement building that takes cues from the existing building and the streetscape must be submitted in support of a request for further review of the demolition application.
- If the required documentation are uploaded on the case before 10am Monday, 14 July, the application will be tabled again in the meeting of 16 July 2025.
Written responses/requests for reconsideration of the application or consideration of new information must be loaded to the case on Sahris (email [email protected]) within 30 days of the date of this letter or any requirements/decisions contained herein will be considered final. Extensions of this time frame can be requested upon receipt of motivation.
Required additional information or revised drawings must be submitted within six months from the date of this letter or the application will lapse and a new application will be required.
