      Statement of Significance

Geological section in pass with good viewing points. Transition from prodelta shale of Kookfontein Formation into sandstone-dominated distributary channel and lower delta plain of Waterford Formation seen in lower third of pass. Here there is a sharp transition from sandstone into shale of the Abrahamskraal Formation, which represents a change into subaerially-exposed upper delta plain sediments.
