      Sited on a glacial pavement on quartzitic sandstone of the Skurweberg Formation. Should be graded provincial (II) in line with other glacial pavements such as Nooitgedacht, Kimberley District. Grading by: DOUG COLE

      The glacial pavement is one of a few such pavements exposed in South Africa. The glacial structures include scours, grooves and bulbous bedforms and were formed about 300 million years ago during the Dwyka glaciation on lithified sandstone that was deposited as sand about 420 million years ago.
