Udidi Project Development Company (Pty) Ltd, was established in 1997 by a group of experienced professionals who sought to respond to the rapid changing socio-development agenda of post 1994.
In 2002, the company brought on board young progressively thinking professionals to make a contribution towards establishing a proudly South African equal-opportunity Development Consultancy founded on the principles of growth and sustainability.
To date, Udidi prides itself as one of South Africa’s Built-Environment and Sustainability Consultancies that provides development solutions to our clients.
Our offices are located in Johannesburg, East London and Pietermaritzburg. Udidi renders services in both rural and urban areas throughout Southern Africa. The company’s strengths lie in its extensive project management, developmental, planning, environmental and facilitation experience, which between its staff and directors exceeds 60 years. It is our philosophy that socio-economic and environmental sustainability should provide the cornerstones of all development projects, and that community consultation and spatial economic principles are key determinants in development.  We thus follow a practical yet scientific approach to all projects. This implies that stakeholder input and theoretical knowledge of the different sectors are combined in order to provide practical solutions to development and implementation issues.
Our attitude is based on a can do philosophy incorporating service excellence through attention to detail. We continually strive to improve our business and increase our market share through the application of effective and efficient systems.  This has enabled the company to acquire the confidence of our stakeholders and earn their respect.

Our Environmental Division offers the following services: Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), Environmental Auditing (EA) and Environmental Monitoring Services .We also undertake planning for Municipal Open Space Systems and provide environmental input into other planning processes, such as District and Local Development Plans and Rural Development Plans.
We have successfully undertaken Impact Assessments and Management Plans for mines, powerlines, pipelines, fuel installations, human settlement and institutional developments, retail outlets and shopping centres, offices, degraded land, roads and associated infrastructure. We have also been successful in offering our clients solutions on Integrated Waste Management, which is driven by our belief in sustainable solutions.
With our experience in the built environment sector we are ideally placed to offer professional, objective and comprehensive services for all aspects of the environment. We ensure that potential environmental issues are addressed early in the design and planning stages, thus avoiding or mitigating negative environmental impacts before they occur. Where required to manage already damaged ecosystems, Udidi offers informed yet inventive solutions, and comprehensive Environmental Management Systems (EMS) that are designed to identify and reduce potential environmental impacts. These may include procedure development (Environmental Management Plans or Rehabilitation Plans), implementation and auditing.
Our integrated approach to environmental management is based on the principles of sustainable development which hold that environmental protection, economic development and social upliftment are inextricably linked. Based on this premise, sound management of the natural environment and all appropriate forms of development can occur simultaneously. It is for this reason that our company has ventured into the provision of Eco-Friendly Solutions.

Socio-economic development is the process of social and economic development in a society. Good planning plays a critical role in deciding how and where development takes place and requires balancing economic, social and environmental objectives to provide the urban and rural spaces desired by communities and businesses.
Our experience in the built environment sector has lead us to the conviction that sustainable development is predicated on robust socio-economic development.
Our consultants understand that Rural Development generally refers to the process of improving the quality of life and economic well-being of people living in none urban and sparsely populated areas whose prospects of a better life is dependent on the land they inhabit. Their livelihoods are traditionally centered around the exploitation of land for food and raw materials. However; our consultants understand that changes in global production networks and increased urbanization have altered the character of rural areas. Therefore, our approach to rural development has changed to reflect this perspective and the prevailing view that other sectors of the economy are now considered as catalytic drivers of rural economic development.

Udidi’s Facilities Management service is intended to bring total accountability through our built environment approach by integrating the four key services required for building adaptations: consultancy, interior design, engineering services, and integrated solutions. Our mission is to be a strategic partner to provide comprehensive services for the built environment for real estate asset owners and end users.

Our consultants understand that infrastructure development requires the identification of strategically located and suitable land. Once identified, the land and rights must be acquired to enable development to proceed.
Our Company has developed its technical expertise in the latest computer technology, in order to assist our planning team and clients with spatial analysis, graphic communication, drawing plans and maps, as well as manipulation of geographic information. We strive to continuously invest substantially in the latest technology for Geographic Information System (GIS), as well as Computer Assisted Design (CAD).
