REDUNDANT ASSET - The 15 Class locomotive consists of 9 variations , 15 / 15A / 15AR / 15B /15 BR/ 15CB / 15CA /15E AND 15F of which 4 variations, 15A # 1791 at Bloemfontein, 15 AR # 1850 at Bloemfontein, 15 CA # 2802 at Esselenpark, 15E # 2878 at Bloemfontein are preserved and forms part of the Transnet Collection, A further 9 of the 15 Class type are on Loan to a preservation groups. The history of this class is captured in two publications " locomotives of the South African railways" by Leith Paxton and David Bourne and " Railways of Southern Africa 150 years by Jean Dulez. A copy of both publications are available at the museum for reference purposes. Locomotive drawings (plans) and other information relating to this class are in safe custody at the Transnet Heritage Library. Compliance to the NHRA will form part of the condition of sale.

A copy of both publications are available at the museum for reference purposes. An identical locomotive of this class - Locomotive 15F # 2994 is preserved at the Klein Plasie Museum Worcester(Transnet Asset)and forms part the Transnet collection. 8 other 15F's are on loan to preservation clubs. The museum has two books where the history of this class is captured " Locomotive of South Africa" by Leith Paxton and David Bourne and "Railways of Southern Africa" by Jean Dulez. Drawings(plans) and other historical information relating to this class is in safe custody at the Transnet Heritage Library.

REDUNDANT ASSET - The 19 class consist of several variations - 19 / 19R / 19A / 19AR / 19B / 19 BR /19C and 19D of which the following are preserved 19C # 2439 - Transnet Transport Museum / 19 D # 3323 on Loan to Classic Rail / 19B #1412 -Ceres Railway Company(owned) and 19AR # 696 - Hilton/ Natal Railway museum. A further 5 Class 19D locomotive are on Loan to steam clubs. 2540 -Reefsteamers / 2637 Umgeni steam/ 2649 Classic Rail/ 2650 Friends of the Rail, 2669 Dr Nkosasana Dlamini Zuma Municipality while on another 3 we have received an offer to purchase.The original building plan ( locomotive drawing) are in safe custody at the Transnet Heritage Library where the history of these locomotives are also kept.
