First plate on the left: "tell them o guns that have heard their call that they have sworn and will not turn aside, that they will onward till we win or fall, that we will keep the faith for which we died. -John Macrae' Second plate on the right: "Se hulle, kanonne, ons het 'n eed gesweer om voort te dring om nie te swig, of ons nou wen of dalk verloor, ons trou gehielig deur herinnering" Plat in the middle: erected in proud memory of all the gunners who gave their lives for south africa. Set in the garden of remembrance by their, relatives, friends and members of the Durban branch of the gunner's association and dedicated on the twenty seventh of August 1967. The Gun this Field sun, a 13pounder, quick firing, Mark II, was in action with the South African gunners in WW1. Refer to the images.
