    The statue is to honour the legacy of Moses Kotane who was a courageous fighter for national and social emancipation. Moses Kotane was a leader of the South African Communist party and the African National Congress.

    Isithwalandwe Moses Mouane Kotane was born in Tampostad in the district of Rustenburg on 09 August 1905. A courageous fighter for national and social emancipation. Moses Kotane was an outstanding leader of the South African Communist Party and the African National Congress. A true patriot and a committed internationalist, Moses Kotane died in Moscow on 21 May 1978.
