Description
He was born in 1702 and passed away as early in 1775, the purpose Is to honor his name and remember about the King, a well known man and the last King of an independent and United Xhosa nation so he's remembered through this Monument erected to him.Phalo was the king was the second son of Tshiwo but his older brother Gwali was from a junior wife and Phalo was in the line for the throne. Tshiwo died the same year of Phalo's birth so his uncle Mdange took over the reins as regent. Gwali joined forces with Ntinde, chief of the Amantinde clan, to overthrow Phalo but was not successful. Phalo had five sons Langa ka Phalo(1705), Rhadebe ka Phalo (1722), Gcaleka ka Phalo, Lutshaba la Phalo(1730) and Nukwa la Phalo.

Ruled from 1700 to 1775 ..Phalo was more concerned about the unity of the Xhosa Kingdom. He was buried under the trees of Tongwana. After his death, the first frontier war broke out and one hundred years war of Xhosa versus colonists began. A Xhosa nation under paramount chief Xolilizwe Sigcawu

We travelled using the N4 and we went into the surrounding village which led us to the bushes deep in the mountains where the monument was on top of the mountain where the train rail was built in a height approximately 7 to 8.3 meters.
