    Inscriptions
The first few Angora Goats to be imported to South Africa that came from Turkey in 1838. They were cross bred with indigenous goats their mohair however was of poor quality. Only in 1856 through to 1880 several shipments followed with some very well bred and famous Angoras being to South Africa. In 1886 there were 500 000 Angoras, 25 years later the numbers had swelled to over 4 million. Today Angora Goats are extensively farmed in the Willowmore district with some of the finest hair being produced in our region.
