The church was originally known as the Wesleyan church. The church building that is currently in use, was a replacement of of the building of the first Wesleyan cchurch.The building blown over by a violent thunderstorm before its completion.Purpose:Date Unveiled: 08th October 1905Designer: John Henry and Albert Edwin Till of Kroonstad.Builder: Not recorded.Person/Institution Commemorated: Church of Methodist utilized for church services and as a health centre.Recorder Name: Vuyelwa Jushwa

Description

Initially the church (building) was used as a hospital during the war of 1880- 1881.

Original Position

First Methodist (Wesleyan church) was in church street. By 1904, the congregation had obtained a site in Lombard street and erected a wood and tin building.
