To Bernard Klisser Who was born in Amsterdam on the 8th of May 1854 and lived on the Diamond Fields from from 1870 until 1908 when he had to give up his residence Here owing to eye trouble which rendered it impossible for him to stand the strong light. He died in London on the 14th of February 1922. Under his will he bequeathed the residue of his estate amounting to over £44, 000 to the Alfred Belt Memorial Fund for the benefit of the poor and needy of this city- this fund is now known as the Alfred Belt Memorial Fund And Bernard Klisser Bequest the Mayor and Councellors of Kimberley have caused this Memorial to be erected to manifest their estimation of the man and as a testimony to coming generations of their gratitude
