This class of ship was built in the UK for the Royal Navy and the navies of the Commonwealth including, at that time,the union of South Africa purchased 10 of these, two were converted to patrol vessels (Kaapstad and Pretoria) and two to mine hunters(Port Elizabeth and Mosselbaai).
