Description
To commemorate the noble man, 7th Captain C.H Baillie for feeding and clothing the wounded soldiers and managed to rebuild their strength for their 335km March to Ladysmith: Natal. After the signing of the peace treaty that ended the First Anglo-Boer War in 1881, Captain Baillie received and accommodated 255 British troops at the manor. The Boers blockaded the garrison in their stronghold for just over 3 months while Captain Baillie being the noble man that was, fed and clothed the wounded soldiers and managed to rebuild their strength for their 335km March to Ladysmith; Natal. The remains of the stronghold can still be seen next to the N12 on the way to Klerksdorp.
