Description
Great Trek (migration of Dutch people from Cape to northern provinces took place 1836-38. So in 1938 Government initiated centenary celebrations throughout the country to commemorate the Trek. Several replica ox wagons left the Cape and drove trough the length of SA, stopping for various festivities as they went along. The two wagons passing through Klerkdorp were called J vd M and MP. During the ceremony they drove through the wet cement in front of this monument, so the wagon and ox tracks are still there today
