Magistrate M Jackson Spent and his police spent the night of 27 December under this tree en route to the areas of unrest along the orange river during the following Korqna Disturbances. This spot became the most remote Administrative Police and Military Headquarters in the Cape. The tree is estimated to between 500 and 600 years old. Monuments council ~1981.
