SAHRA Archaeology, Palaeontology and Meteorites (APM) Unit cannot make a comment on the Upgrading of the bridge because a detailed project description was not included in the Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA). The HIA does not follow the minimum standards set for a Heritage Impact Assessment. The following information should be included, in all Heritage Studies:
Project Description: Detailed construction information, what type of bridge will be constructed, including plans for the bridge. Who will be carrying out the development?
Local Cultural History, a provincial heritage site is located near the proposed development, how will the development affect the cultural landscape.
If it is a field assessment being conducted for an HIA, track paths must be included as evidence.
SAHRA will comment further on the case once the additional information is submitted to the case.
