Interim CommentThe SAHRA Archaeology, Palaeontology and Meteorites (APM) Unit cannot process the case without the submission of a PIA report. An assessment of impacts to palaeontological resources must be conducted by a suitably qualified palaeontologist because the proposed mine infrastructure projects is in a region of Very High significance, and according to the SAHRIS Palaeomap a Palaeontological Impact Assessment (PIA) must be undertaken by a suitably qualified palaeontologist. The PIA report must adhere to the 2012 Palaeontological Minimum Standards guideline and it must be submitted to the case with the HIA report.SAHRA will provide further comments on the submission of the PIA report.
