Interim Comment
As per section 38(2)a of the NHRA, SAHRA requests that a Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) be conducted for the proposed development that complies with section 38(3) of the NHRA to assess the impact to the identified graves and any other heritage located along the proposed route.
While the proposed development area is located within an area of very high, high and moderate Palaeontological Sensitivity as per the SAHRIS PalaeoSensitivity map, the proposed route is located in highly disturbed areas and no further assessment of the impact to palaeontological resources is required. A Chance Fossil Finds Procedure must be developed by a qualified palaeontologist and implemented as part of the Environmental Management Programme.
Further comments will be issued upon receipt of the requested HIA and Chance Fossil Finds Procedure.
