Interim Comment The SAHRA Archaeology, Palaeontology, Meteorite (APM) unit notes that there are no visible archaeological heritage resources along the route of the powerline, therefore, no archaeological studies are required. The recommendations of the DESD are noted and that a field-based Palaeontological Impact Assessment (PIA) must be undertaken. The Palaeontological Impact Assessment (PIA) must be undertaken by a qualified palaeontologist (See https://www.palaeosa.org/heritage-practitioners.html for a list of qualified palaeontologists). The report must comply with the 2012 Minimum Standards: Palaeontological Components of Heritage Impact Assessments. An archaeologist must be appointed to survey and demarcate the burial ground to ensure no impacts before construction starts. The report of the survey and demarcation must be submitted to the SAHRIS along with the PIA report for an further comments.
