This letter is being issued to correct an error that was made in the interim comment issued by SAHRA on 15th November 2022 in response to the Port of Richards Bay SEA Draft Scoping Report.
The section of the comment that needs updating is where SAHRA has requested changes to the following sentence:
The DSR states in the individual project notes in the table in Section 7.4.5 Scoping Findings that:
• NHRA & KZN HA: Permit from Amafa and Research Institute if heritage resources are to be affected.
SAHRA responded to say that:
“Please note that a permit will be required from the MUCH unit at SAHRA rather than a Research Institute or Amafa as stated. This must be corrected in future reports.”
The Environmental consultant for the project contacted SAHRA to advise that as there are both maritime and terrestrial components to the project Amafa, as the Provincial Heritage Authority, will also be consulted.
Therefore the above referred to section of the comment issued by SAHRA should be updated to read:
“Please note that a permit will be required from the MUCH unit at SAHRA rather than a Research Institute as stated. This must be corrected in future reports.”
