Krypton MTS and Associated Grid Connection Infrastructure

Akuo Energy Afrique (on behalf of Eskom Holdings SoC Limited) is proposing the development of the 400kV Krypton Main Transmission Substation (MTS) and associated 400kV Loop In Loop Out (LILO) transmission lines, connecting into the two existing 400kV transmission lines situated to the south of the MTS site, namely: Hydra-Perseus 2 and Hydra-Perseus 3 (i.e. 4 lines in total). The Krypton MTS has a planned maximum export capacity of 1500 MVA. The power lines will be approximately 9km in length from the Krypton MTS to the furthest 400kV transmission line (Hydra-Perseus 2) and will be a maximum height of 60m.

The Krypton MTS site is located on portions 1 and 5 of the Farm Koppy Alleen 83 with the transmission line LILO route located on Portions 1 and 4 of the Farm Koppy Alleen 83 and the Remaining Extent of the Farm Bokken Kraal 81 in the Renosterberg Local Municipality in the greater Pixley ka Seme District Municipality in the Northern Cape Province. The project site is located approximately 20km north of Philipstown and 30km west of Petrusville.
