Proposed Muiskraal Solar 1 Photovoltaic Solar Energy Facilities near Potchefstroom, North West Province

The activities entail the development of two up to 240MW photovoltaic (PV) solar facilities and associated infrastructure on the Remaining Extent and Portion 4 of the Farm Turffontein No. 126, situated within the JB Marks Local Municipality area of jurisdiction. The town of Potchefstroom is located approximately 30km south of the proposed development (refer to the attached locality map). The projects entail the generation of up to 240MW electrical power (each) through PV panels. The total footprint of the projects will be approximately 910 hectares (including supporting infrastructure on site) with an assessment area of ~455ha for each facility. The property on which the facility is to be constructed will be leased by Muiskraal Solar 1 (Pty) Ltd and Muiskraal Solar 2 (Pty) Ltd from the property owner, for the lifespan of the project (minimum of 20 years). Depending on the economic conditions following the lapse of this period, the facility may either be decommissioned, or the power purchase agreement may be renegotiated and extended.
