Interim Comment

The SAHRA notes the PIA enquiry report submitted to the case and would like to confirm that a Palaeontological Impact Assessment (PIA) by a suitably qualified palaeontologist is required, and a Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) by a suitably qualified archaeologist is required for the development.

Since a NEMA process will be undertaken as indicated in the report, then both these studies are required in terms of section 38(8) and section 38(3) of the NHRA. The environmental documents must also be submitted as they become publically available.

Furthermore, the fee paid is incorrect. It is short of R 1 200.

All of the above must be submitted to the case before further processing.
