Interim Comment
The SAHRA, DAU accepts the submission of the HIA and the FSR. However, SAHRA request that the applicant updates the map on SAHRIS to include all alternative sites and upload the DEIA for the project to the case. Please note that some portion of the project lies within an area of very high palaeontological sensitivity; therefore, a field assessment and protocol for finds are required. The assessment must be undertaken by a qualified palaeontologist and the report must comply with the 2012 Minimum Standards: Palaeontological Components of Heritage Impact Assessments.
The applicant is advised to extend the EA process in terms of section 19(1)b of the NEMA EIA regulations in order to address this comment. Further comments will be issued upon receipt of the above requested reports.
