Proposal Description
Ntabande Wind Power (Pty) Ltd (Ntabande) is proposing to develop the Ntabande Wind Energy Facility (WEF / the project) and its associated grid infrastructure in Mpumalanga Province. This WEF is intended to form part of the northern section of a proposed WEF Cluster, namely the Daggakraal Cluster1 which consists of the Ntabande WEF (this application), the Daggafoort WEF (separate application) and the 132kV Overhead Transmission Lines (OHTL), switching stations, Daggakraal Main Transmission Substation (MTS) and 400 kilo volt (kV) powerline (Separate application). The WEF will connect to the national grid through the proposed Daggakraal (MTS and its associated Grid Infrastructure which will have its Environmental Authorisation (EA) applied for in a separate application process, with EDF-Renewables (Pty) Ltd (EDF-R) as the applicant. The Daggakraal MTS and Grid Infrastructure (132V and 400kV) will be ceded to Eskom once constructed.
The proposed Project is located approximately 20 km north-east of the town of Amersfoort within the Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Local Municipality (LM), and Msukaligwa LM and Gert Sibande District Municipality (DM) in the Mpumalanga Province.
