Interim Comment:

The SAHRA Development Applications Unit (DAU) is making the following comments in terms of section 38(8) of the NHRA as contemplated by the EIA process in terms of section 24(4)b(ii) of NEMA;

• The SAHRA DAU requires comprehensive Heritage Impact Assessment and a Palaeontological Impact Assessment satisfying the requirements of section 38(3) of the NHRA and the SAHRIS Palaeosensitivity Map.
• Due to the sensitivity articulated by the SVR, field-based impact assessments must be undertaken on all areas proposed for development and a tracklog of both the heritage and palaeontological aspects must be added to the reports.
• Further comments will be issued upon receipt of the HIA and PIA reports and DEIA inclusive of appendices.
