Case Decision
  1. In the radius of 17 to 20km from the site intended for the Cableway, the National Heritage Sites of the Drakenstein Correctional Facility (formerly Victor Verster Prison) "Madiba House", farm Watervleit and the Boschendal Founders Estates, Dwarsrivier Valley are found. The Franschhoek Cableway may be visible from the Boschendal Founders Estate, but the visual absorption capacity of the landscape will decrease the impact on that site. 
  2. The recommendations of lighting to be used only during operational hours is thus supported. The Cableway will not be visible from the main view from the Madiba House.
  3. SAHRA is satisfied that the proposed development of the Skytram will not detract from the significance of the declared National Heritage Sites, nor will the declared sites be directly impacted.
