Thank you for submitting your application for the Restoration and Deck to Alpha 1 Recreational Lounge located on Robben Island, farm nr. 1436, within the jurisdiction of the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality (CPT), Western Cape Province in accordance with Section 27(18) of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999. The purpose of this permit application is the deck to the east of Alpha 1 with the formalisation of current public movement upon visiting Alpha 1, providing a level and safe platform for visitors to enjoy the views towards Cape Town and Table Mountain. Internally, this permit is for the design which includes lighting in the deck construction as well as designated stainless-steel post and wire balustrades to ensure public safety and the restoration of the existing building and ablutions. The proposed activities aligns with the statutory provisions intended to protect and conserve South Africa's national heritage resources.
