This property was probably granted to the Church Council of the local Dutch Reformed Church early in the 19th Century, although the building of the parsonage was commenced in 1848. The parsonage, which was used as such until 1904, is mainly associated with the Rev. John Taylor who served as minister in Cradock for several decades. With its long, straight walls and imposing gables, the parsonage is also of architectural importance and, together with the cart shed, forms an exceptional complex.
