Citation
An area within the East London harbour area, situated on the East bank adjacent the historic Bruce-Bays double-decker bridge (1935), bounded by the Pontoon Road (pre-1900) on the north- and eastern side, the historic Princess Elizabeth Graving Dock (1947) on the southern side, and the Buffalo River on the western side. It includes the Princess Elizabeth Dock Memorial (1947); the historic Latimer's Landing (jetty)(1896) where Marjorie Courtenay-Latimer recognised the coelacanth (thought to be extinct) among a local fisherman's catch (1938); the historic land bridge erected in 1946; and several buildings and structures older than 60 years.
