There is a definite link with the Grey Family and the Memorial, we know that Nick Gray was a good friend of Basil Maclear and based on anecdotal reports, it was he and Pickstone Family who starter the public subscription for the Memorial.Purpose:Date Unveiled: Designer: Builder: It was built by J. This WW1 memorial commemorates the sacrifice of just 10 men from the Valley of Groot Drakenstein, Simondium, Wellington, Plasir De Marle, Pickstone Farms and Erin Vale.
