      Statement of Significance

These graves, being reminders of the larger NZASM endeavour, fall under the generic NZASM statement of significance, but specifically commemorates specifically personages who died in the planning of the Eastern Line. Their importance lies in their associations with South Africa's community, heritage, and are considered uncommon, rare and endangered; they have the potential to yield information for understanding; have particular aesthetic characteristic; have strong and special associations with both historic and contemporaneous communities; have a special association with the life and work of an important organisation and its associated persons; all as they relate to the culture of South Africa and her international cultural historic affiliates.
