Inscriptions
A terrace half-way down the gardens is devoted to commemorating three wars in which South Africans were involved: WW1, WW2 and the Korean War. Rolls of honour fixed to the sloping wall can be read from a path running between two small domed structures containing further roils of honour. A low cenotaph stands nearby. The whole is somehow a private space suitable for reflection on the loss of life and the victories that have prevented despots from ruling the world. Unfortunately vandalism is taking place and several of the bronze plaques have already been removed or broken
