Description
In this vicinity rebellious burghers of Graaff-Reinet declared themselves independant of the authority of the Dutch -East India company and hoisted the red, white and blue flag, the "Prinsevlag".

This event led to the dismissal of landross H.C Maynier and other company officials. The rebels then administered the "colony of Graaff-Reinet" through a "volkstem" (voice of the people)
