The fort formed part of an artillery camp of the Z.A.R.
It served as a link in the defence network of natal against the incursion of Boer guerrilla fighters.
It is said that they stored their materials and weapons inside.

Along Kenneth Kaunda road, take a right turn into Black Burn road and immediately take your first left to Station Ridge road. Shortly after take the first right turn into Garvan Avenue. Travel short distance, the entrance will be on you left.
